Veterinary care begins with preventative measures, and one of the most comprehensive steps you can take in the direction of preventative care is scheduled wellness testing. A wellness panel of bloodwork can do a lot when it comes to monitoring your pet’s overall health and well-being.
A complete wellness panel with include a CBC (complete blood count) and a chemistry, though other tests can be requested in addition, at your discretion. These tests will monitor your pet’s blood cell counts and composition, looking for any signs of anemia or infection. Apart from that, regular completion of these panels can help our Medical team make an early diagnosis of disease such as diabetes, and liver or kidney failure. Early diagnosis leads to early treatment, and increases your pet’s chance of continuing a healthy life.
In order to keep up with the demand for such tests by our clients, Brook Farm now has a comprehensive veterinary lab, and is able to run much of your pet’s blood work in house, allowing for a quicker turnaround time of results, and a more cost-effective option for owners.
